Food Bank for Westchester

Many congregants abstain from food on Yom Kippur to focus on the purpose of the day —Teshuva (repentance). For the past 25 years, Westchester congregations have made this fast experience even more significant by donating approximately $25,000 and over 20,500 lbs. of food each Yom Kippur to the Food Bank for Westchester. Temple Beth Shalom is especially proud of being a major supporter of this event, donating over 3/4 of all the funds raised. Please consider joining us in the fight against hunger again as part of your Yom Kippur tradition this year.

To Donate:
You can use the donation envelope provided at our High Holiday Services or donate on their secure website at Please enter our synagogue’s name where prompted when making your donation.

In addition to our financial generosity and support on Yom Kippur, we also have the opportunity to help year round through three volunteer days. Join us to roll up your sleeves and help sort food donations so they can distribute them more easily to those who are in need. RSVP to the Temple office as space is limited!
