ANNUAL TZEDAKAH ACTIVITIES

Throughout the year the Temple is involved in Tzedakah activities that support a variety of local organizations with drives and fundraisers, as well as many opportunities to volunteer.

DOBBS FERRY AND HASTINGS FOOD PANTRIES
Weekly donations of produce and juice.

JOIN US ON A MIDNIGHT RUN 
Deliver food, clothing, toiletries and sleeping bags to designated locations in NYC; on select Fridays. To join us, email cantorjoseph@tbshastings.org

SHABBAT NON-PERISHABLE FOOD DRIVE
Donate non-perishable food to be distributed by the Hastings Youth Advocate’s Office to families in need throughout the Rivertowns. 

DOR L’DOR “Generation to Generation” - Senior Temple members volunteer to read with our Nursery School children and participate through Project SEED (Supporting Children’s Early Emotional Development) in a discussion group about the experience.

FAMILY-TO-FAMILY’S HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM 
Sign up to be a donor and provide an elderly Holocaust survivor with monthly groceries and personal care items. 

THE SANCTUARY Provide and prepare dinner for The Sanctuary at Children’s Village, the only teen homeless shelter in Westchester and Rockland Counties.

SUKKOT REGA SANDWICH PROJECT Join us to prepare bagged meals for the homeless and/or help deliver to Midnight Run in Dobbs Ferry. 

VOLUNTEER TO HELP AT FEEDING WESTCHESTER 
Sort food donations at Feeding Westchester’s food bank warehouse in Elmsford. 

GRADE 7 SUKKOT SLEEPING BAG DRIVE FOR MIDNIGHT RUN
Donations collected in the Temple lobby. 

HALLOWEEN CANDY DRIVE 
Bring your extra “Trick or Treat” candy to the Temple to be donated to Food Bank for Westchester. Volunteer to deliver to Food Bank. 

MEN’S CLOTHING DRIVE 
Bring in men’s winter coats, pants (no dress slacks) and socks to be distributed to the homeless in NYC. Help deliver to Midnight Run in Dobbs Ferry.

ANNUAL THANKSGIVING GIFT OF DOUBLE CHAI 
Purchase Thanksgiving dinners to send home with the residents of Children’s Village in Dobbs Ferry. Our Tikkun Olam teen group will sort and prepare these holiday packages. Each gift of double chai ($36) funds a complete dinner. 

ANNUAL NEW HATS, MITTENS/GLOVES & SOCKS DRIVE
Donate NEW hats, mittens/gloves and socks for the Hastings Youth Advocate to distribute to children from preschoolers to teens throughout the Rivertowns. 

WINTER CANNED PROTEIN DRIVE
Bring cans of tuna, salmon and chicken for Food Bank to Temple lobby collection box. 

ANNUAL PASSOVER GIFT OF DOUBLE CHAI
Donate double chai ($36) or multiples thereof, to help Project Ezra and Bronx Jewish Community Council provide Passover food packages for the elderly and those in need.

GRADE 4 TOILETRIES DRIVE FOR MIDNIGHT RUN Bring unused travel-size toiletry items to be sorted by Grade 4 on Tzedakah Day, for distribution to the homeless in New York City.

UJA CHANUKAH GIFT DRIVE

WOMEN’S AND CHILDREN’S CLOTHING DRIVE Bring Donate lightly worn women’s and children’s clothing at the Temple on Tzedakah Day to help those in need. Volunteer to deliver.

TIKKUN OLAM FLOWER AND BAKE SALE On Tzedakah Day, buy owers and baked goods at the Temple to support Habitat for Humanity’s programs.
